Description
This is an 1826 church of rectangular plan, built in a plain Gothic style. It features a prominent, four-stage square tower centrally located on the south gable. The tower's stages diminish in size, with a main entrance at ground level, a gallery window in the second stage, and a louvred belfry opening on each elevation of the fourth stage, topped with a spirelet. The main body of the church is now pebble-dashed, but retains exposed ashlar margins. It has mostly pointed openings with Y-tracery, and tall windows with two transomes; three windows line the east flank, and four line the west flank. The roof is slate, featuring shaped skews, and a flue is set above the southwest angle.
Inside, a good octagonal pulpit is centrally positioned on the west wall, with a panelled gallery supported by slender cast-iron columns running along three sides. A modern communion table is also present, along with a single leaded window dating from around 1938.
To the east, an ashlar-coped retaining wall features two chamfered square gatepiers with cast-iron gates and railings. The church remains in ecclesiastical use. A war memorial is not included in the listing.
