Description
An earlier 19th-century lodge and gatepiers exhibit classical detailing. The lodge is a single-story, three-bay structure built with polished red ashlar. The south elevation features a panelled door recessed behind a central, pedimented portico in the Greek Doric style. It has 12-pane sash windows with apron panels set within architraves, the architraves being linked to both the base course and the eaves band. Windows are similarly detailed in the single-bay, pedimented gables. A cornice runs along the roofline, and a central apex stack features two corniced diamond flues. The roof is covered with graded slates. A modern addition has been made to the rear.
The gatepiers consist of an inner, octagonal pier (one of which is damaged) and a square, outer red ashlar pier, both with projecting caps. Curved quadrant walls connect these piers, and a droved ashlar garden wall extends to the north.
