Description
The stables at Goldielea were built around 1860 and consist of three ranges arranged around a cobbled quadrangular courtyard, which is enclosed at the north by a crenellated wall. The building is single-storey with lofts and constructed from rubble with ashlar dressings. The south elevation is symmetrical with five bays, featuring advanced and taller central and outer bays. The inner bay is pedimented and includes a round-arched loft window and an oculus in the tympanum, while the other openings are all segmental-arched. The west range has a gabled loft door and two cart openings leading to the courtyard, and the east range has been converted for domestic use, with a central door on the north wall. The building has corniced stacks and is roofed with graded slates.
