North Range, Ballagan, Durisdeer

The North Range at Ballagan in Durisdeer is a detached steading range, likely designed by architect Walter Newall around 1830. This tall, rectangular building is located at the north end of a courtyard and is a single storey with a loft. It is constructed from rubble with ashlar dressings and has been whitewashed. The roof is modern, made of corrugated material and gabled, although it is presumed to have originally been piended and slated.

The elevation facing the courtyard features a three-bay stable on the left, a two-bay cartshed, and a tall barn door on the right. The barn includes two tiers of slit ventilators. Most of the square-headed openings are boarded, with two having modern sliding doors. A mill wheel that was previously located on the north wall has been removed. The courtyard itself is cobbled.
