Assembly Rooms, 54-56 George Street, Dumfries

The Assembly Rooms, located at 54-56 George Street in Dumfries, were built in 1825 and feature joinerwork by Gregan and Creighton. This building is designed in the Greek Revival style and now serves as a Masonic Lodge. It is a two-storey structure with a railed basement and consists of five symmetrical bays. The exterior is finished in polished red ashlar with decorative architraves.

A balustraded Doric porch with paired columns enhances the entrance, while the end bays are slightly advanced and feature balustraded aprons on the first floor. The ground floor windows are corniced, and there are band and cill courses between the floors. The building also has a two-bay return elevation facing Irving Street, a prominent cornice, and a blocking course at the top. There are stacks at each end, and the roof is covered with slate.
