Description

Kirkland is an early 19th century, symmetrical classical house that stands two storeys high and has three bays. The exterior features rubble walling with roughly squared quoins and raised margins.

At the center, there is a square-plan single-storey porch topped with a block pediment and three oversized ball finials. The entrance includes a panelled door with a narrow fanlight above it.

The windows throughout the house are single light sash and case, with a 12-pane glazing pattern, except for the porch which has 2-pane plate-glass. The roof has flat skews and is covered with slate, featuring coped end stacks that have thackstanes, indicating that the roof originally had a higher pitch.

At the rear, there is a painted rubble lower two-storey wing that forms a T-plan. Additionally, a pair of square coped granite gatepiers marks the entrance to the driveway.
