Description
The parish church and burial ground at Kelton was built in 1805 and 1806, using stone from the prior 18th-century parish church. It was restored between 1879 and 1880. The church is a rectangular hall-style building with a bellcote, a small tower, on the west gable. The exterior is constructed of rendered rubble stone with polished rusticated quoins (cornerstones) and raised margins surrounding the tall round arched windows and oculi (circular windows). There are four-bay facades on the north and south sides. The north facade features a three-bay single-story corniced porch. The south facade has a full-height projecting gabled bay forming a vestry. The east and west gables each have two round-arched windows topped with oculi. It has a molded eaves cornice and a slate roof with flat skews.
Inside, galleries dating from circa 1820 were removed, and the seating arrangement was altered, placing the pulpit and communion table on a raised dais at the west end. Modern furnishings are present, and the walls are tiled with ceramic tiles. The ceiling is timber-lined with corbels supporting the main ribs. A war memorial plaque hangs on the west wall. The building remains in ecclesiastical use.
