Description
Furbar is a mid-18th century, two-storey, three-bay house located in Castle Douglas. The building is constructed from painted rubble and features a boulder basecourse. There is a single-storey wing to the north, with a central door that has a fanlight above and a panelled door. The house has sash and case windows, which display an 8-pane glazing pattern.
On the rear elevation, there is a projecting square centre bay, with a bipartite window to the left at ground level. The remaining windows on this side are all single, fitted with plate glass and a 2-pane glazing pattern.
The house is topped with coped end stacks that have octagonal cans, thackstones, and sandstone skew stones and ridge, all covered by slate roofs.
