Description

Littlebank is a single-storey lodge house likely built in the early to mid-19th century, which is connected at right angles to a single-storey byre range, creating an L-shaped layout. The building underwent alterations in the 1960s when the byre section was incorporated into the house, and a bowed addition was added to the rear in the 1980s. It features castellated details and is finished with painted harl and ashlar dressings.

The entrance elevation faces northeast and consists of a three-bay lodge with a later gabled porch at the center. This porch includes a round-arched door with a sunburst fanlight above, a panelled door, and two-pane sidelights that have trefoiled details resembling gunloops at the top. Windows are located on either side of the entrance. The former byre range extends to the outer left and has a castellated end elevation with a window flanked by blind trefoiled gunloops and corbelled battlements, which appear to have been rebuilt or altered in brick and feature additional trefoil ornamentation.

On the northwest elevation, the former byre range has three windows and a garage door on the outer left. The windows are 4-pane timber sash and case style. The roof is covered with graded grey slates, and there is a harled ridge stack along with Velux rooflights. The property features a setted forecourt.

The boundary wall is a long structure made of whinstone, topped with sandstone coping, which separates Littlebank and Lochbank from the road. It includes a pedestrian gateway leading to the former, which is listed alongside the latter.
