Description

Dated 1862. Asymmetrical Italianate town hall and customs

house. Polished ashlar with raised angle margins and

basecourse, 2-storeys. All windows round-arched lancets with

pilastered reveals and keystoned archivolts and bracketted

cills. Recessed gabled bay to left with tall 3-light window.

To centre, pilastered doorpiece with cartouche above,

bipartite light to 1st.

To right, symmetrical 3-bay part, advanced outer pedimented

bays with single lancets, inner bay with 3-light window.

Eaves cornice, blocking course, block pediment over centre

with panel inscribed Town Hall, 1862. Slate roof, piended

over hall.
