Description
27 and 29 High Street in Sanquhar is an earlier 19th-century building featuring two storeys and an attic with three asymmetrical bays. The exterior is finished in painted stugged ashlar. The ground floor has pilasters and an off-centre two-leaf panelled door, which is flanked by shop windows that have inset round-arched glazing. There is an additional door on the left side that leads to flats. Above the ground floor, a continuous cornice runs across the front. The first floor includes three windows with small-paned upper sashes. The top masonry course appears to be an addition, likely built around the same time as the cooperative building to the east. The roof features two gabled canted dormers with ornamented barge boards, saw-toothed skews, and an end stack, all covered with graded slates.
