Description

16 and 18 High Street in Sanquhar are mid 19th century, symmetrical houses featuring four bays each. They have three inner doors, two piended dormers, and shops on the ground floor. The buildings are two storeys high with an attic, constructed of painted ashlar with rusticated quoins. The shops at either end of the range have retained their pilastered fronts, while the centre has modern shop fronts. The first floor is adorned with 8-pane sash windows and a continuous string at the cill level. Additional architectural details include a cornice, end stacks, and a slate roof.
