Description
The Crawick New Bridge is a road bridge, likely dating from around 1825, as suggested by worn datestones at opposite ends of the parapet. It carries the A76 road over Crawick Water, incorporating two segmental arches. The arch to the west is a flood relief arch. The bridge is constructed of stugged ashlar stone with polished dressings and voussoirs, set upon a bull-faced pier. Cutwaters are located on either side of the pier, and a wide pilaster strip sits above. Recessed arch rings are present, and a band course runs below the coped parapets, which are splayed at the bridge approaches. The bridge is located in Sanquhar Burgh.
