Description

This is a lodge with gate piers and railings, built in the mid to later 19th century. It is a single-storey building with a gabled roof and has a later addition to the north, creating an L-shaped plan to the east. The exterior is finished in painted rubble with painted ashlar dressings and features rusticated quoins. The windows are timber mullioned and transomed, and the eaves overhang.

On the south elevation, there is a gabled porch that projects at the center, featuring a corniced rusticated doorcase with a panelled door that has glazed upper panels. To the left, there is a gabled bay with a canted window, also with a cornice and blocking course. The angle of the L-plan is recessed to the right.

The east elevation mirrors the south with a gabled bay to the left and a canted window with a cornice and blocking course. The angle of the L-plan is again recessed to the right.

On the west elevation, the structure advances to the right with a window, while a later addition is recessed to the left, featuring two single-light windows and a door to the left.

The windows have modern small-pane glazing in casements, and the roof is covered with graded grey slates. At the center of the south roof, there is a painted, corniced, and rusticated ridge stack.

The gate piers and railings consist of a low rubble wall that curves to the northwest and southwest, topped with red sandstone coping. The railings are made of cast iron with fleur-de-lis detailing, and the square piers, made of painted ashlar, are capped with pyramidal tops. The entrance features two-leaf cast-iron gates, also adorned with fleur-de-lis detailing.
