Description
This is an earlier or mid-19th century farmhouse, part of a larger farmstead. The farmhouse is a two-story, three-bay building with a full-height wing to the rear (north). It is constructed from whin rubble with contrasting walling on the north side. The front elevation is harled (roughcast) with painted ashlar dressings. The main entrance is in the centre, featuring a boarded door with a fanlight and a decorative, curved pediment. The windows are sash windows with 12 panes of glass. The roof has shaped skews and end chimneys with corniced, octagonal flues, and is covered with graded slates. The rear wing may have originally been single-story and featured a door facing west.
The farmstead consists of asymmetrical ranges, all built with whitewashed rubble and ashlar, arranged around a courtyard. Parallel blocks flank the courtyard; one is a low range containing an implement shed, and the other is a taller, two-story block, which appears to have been a bothy and a former farmhouse.
