Description
82-86 High Street in Lockerbie is a free-standing commercial and domestic block built in the second half of the 19th century. The building is constructed of polished red ashlar. The front elevation facing High Street features two altered shops at ground level and four mullioned windows on the first floor, with sashes that have 4-pane glazing. Above the ground floor, there is a continuous cornice. The west flank has five bays, with a central door in the three-bay section that has a depressed-arched doorpiece and a blind window above it, with astragals cut in stone. The building has a bracketted main cornice, corniced wallhead stacks, and a piended slate roof. The plain rear wing, known as No 84A, incorporates earlier fabric.
