Description
Alloa Tower is a building from the 15th century that has been altered in the 16th, 17th, and late 18th centuries. It stands four storeys high with an attic, constructed from coursed rubble measuring 62 feet 6 inches by 39 feet 6 inches, and reaches a height of 68 feet to the parapet walk. The tower features a stepped and crenellated parapet with corbelled rounds at the angles and at the center of the north wall. The doorpiece is arched and designed in the Ionic de l'Orme French order from the 19th century, likely replicating an earlier doorway, with bases that may date back to the 17th century. The tower has existed in its current form at least since 1861.
