Long Craig Gatelodge, Dalmeny House, Edinburgh

Long Craig Gatelodge, located at Dalmeny House in Edinburgh, is an earlier 19th-century single-storey gate lodge designed in a Tudor style. The building features coursed ashlar stonework, rectangular hoodmoulds, stone mullions, long and short quoins, and a base course.

On the southeast elevation, there are two bays, with an advanced bay to the left that includes a tripartite window at the center. Above this window is a carved armorial plaque aligned with an open pediment on the gable. To the right, there is a modern timber door accompanied by a plate glass fanlight.

The southwest elevation also has two bays, featuring an advanced bay on the left with a bipartite window at the center and a single window on the right. There is a tooled and painted name panel at the quoin, reading "Longcraig Gate."

The northwest elevation has a porch located left of center, with windows in two bays to the right. The northeast elevation mirrors the two-bay design, with an advanced bay to the left and a bipartite window at the center, topped by a jerkin-head gable.

The lodge is fitted with timber sash and case windows that have small pane upper sashes. It has a graded grey slate roof, cast-iron rainwater goods, and a central ridge stack that is coped and features circular cans.
