Description
17, 18, 19, 20 Bank Street in Edinburgh is a late 17th century tenement that has undergone later alterations and additions, notably by Henry Kerr in 1895. This building features six storeys and an attic, with five bays and a shop extending from the ground floor. The main structure is constructed of random rubble with ashlar dressings, while a flat-roofed block at the rear is harled to the ground floor. The building has a regular arrangement of windows, with small windows on the outer left, three gabled dormers in the attic, and bipartite windows on the west elevation of the rear block.
Inside, the plasterwork dates from the 1895 alterations, and there are some original mahogany display cases. The windows are timber sash and case with 12-pane glazing, and the roof is covered with grey slates.
