Description

Circa 1900, attributed to Robert Morham. Single storey and attic asymmetrical barge-boarded gabled gate lodge. Squared and snecked rock-cut red sandstone with polished dressings. Base course; jettied attic floor on corbel course; over-hanging eaves. Chamfered openings. Finialled, tile-hung gables with barge-boarding and kingposts.

S (GREENBANK TERRACE) ELEVATION: projecting gabled bay to left with stone-mullioned bipartite window to ground floor, tripartite window in gable above. Timber panelled door in open porch to right. Narrow single storey bay with window in re-entrant angle.

W ELEVATION: twin gables; single windows to ground and in left gable above.

E ELEVATION: gabled bay to left with open porch and single windows to ground and in gable to left above.

N (REAR) ELEVATION: gabled bay to left; modern single storey brick extension adjoining.

BOUNDARY WALL, GATEPIER AND RAILINGS: ashlar-coped rock-cut red sandstone boundary wall with cast-iron railings; pyramidally-coped rock-cut red sandstone gatepier to SW.

4-pane upper sashes, plate glass lower in timber sash and case windows. Cast-iron down pipe with decorative hopper. Red tiles to roof; decorative terracotta ridge tiles. Ridge stacks with tall tapered cans.
