Description

25 Greenbank Terrace is a gate lodge built around 1900, attributed to Robert Morham. This single storey and attic structure features an asymmetrical design with barge-boarded gables. It is constructed from squared and snecked rock-cut red sandstone, accented with polished dressings. The building has a base course, a jettied attic floor supported by a corbel course, and overhanging eaves. The openings are chamfered, and the gables are finialled and tile-hung, complete with barge-boarding and kingposts.

On the south elevation facing Greenbank Terrace, there is a projecting gabled bay to the left, which includes a stone-mullioned bipartite window on the ground floor and a tripartite window in the gable above. To the right, a timber panelled door is set in an open porch. There is also a narrow single storey bay with a window in the re-entrant angle.

The west elevation features twin gables, each with a single window on the ground floor and another in the left gable above. The east elevation has a gabled bay to the left with an open porch, along with single windows on the ground and in the gable above to the left. The north elevation at the rear includes a gabled bay to the left and a modern single storey brick extension attached.

Surrounding the property is a boundary wall made of ashlar-coped rock-cut red sandstone, complemented by cast-iron railings. There is a pyramidally-coped rock-cut red sandstone gatepier to the southwest.

The windows are timber sash and case, featuring 4-pane upper sashes and plate glass lower sashes. A cast-iron down pipe with a decorative hopper is present, along with a roof covered in red tiles and decorative terracotta ridge tiles. The ridge stacks have tall tapered cans.
