232 Newhaven Road, Newhaven, Edinburgh

This is a classical house built around 1817, located at 232 Newhaven Road in Edinburgh. It is a two-storey, three-bay structure that forms the end of a terrace, with a later wing at the rear creating an L-shape. The house is constructed from lightly stugged cream sandstone, featuring polished dressings, raised long and short quoins, and raised margins at the ground floor dividing band. It has a continuous cornice and projecting painted cills.

On the west (entrance) elevation, there is a painted Roman Doric pilastered doorpiece at the center, which includes a plain frieze, a projecting cornice, a timber panelled door, and an original round-arched fanlight. There are tripartite windows flanking the entrance on the ground floor and single windows in each bay on the first floor. A piended tripartite dormer is located in the outer left bay.

The windows are 12-pane timber sash and case. The roof is covered with graded grey slate and features raised stone skews. There is a corniced ashlar apex stack to the south and an ashlar ridge stack to the north, which is shared with No 234, along with various circular cans.

The interior was not seen in 1996.
