Description

Early 19th century. 2-storey, 4-bay near-symmetrical pair of classical houses forming terrace. Coursed rubble cream sandstone with cherry cocking; polished and painted ashlar dressings; raised long and short quoins.

W (ENTRANCE ELEVATION): Roman Doric pilastered doorpieces in central bays with rosette motifs in entablatures. Modern replacement doors; plate glass fanlights; single windows to first floor above. Corniced tripartite windows to ground in bays to left and right respectively (flanking lights blinded); single windows to first floor above.

4-pane timber sash and case windows to 1st floor; 2-pane timber sash and case windows to ground; altered glazing at rear. Grey slate roof with raised stone skews. Coped rubble apex stack to N; coped rendered apex stack to S (mutual with No 208); some octagonal cans; mutual coped wallhead stack to rear; circular cans. Pilastered and pedimented dormer window with cast-iron balcony to No 214.

INTERIORS: not seen 1996.

GATEPIERS AND BOUNDARY WALLS: rubble with slaister pointing; coped gatepiers to No 212; coped boundary wall to street with replacement railings.
