Description

102 Whitehouse Road is an early to mid 19th century classical house featuring a piended single storey design with three main bays and flanking single bay pedimented wings. The building has a symmetrical rectangular plan and is constructed from coursed yellow rubble sandstone, with droved surrounds to openings, projecting cills, raised margins, a continuous base course, and long and short quoins. There is a later pitched addition to the north, which includes a slate-hung box-dormer above, and a semi-circular flat-roofed addition to the south. At the rear, there is a pitched single storey outbuilding made of yellow sandstone rubble.

On the east elevation, the entrance features a timber panelled door set back in the central bay, with an original diamond-paned fanlight above. There are single windows in the bays to the left and right of the entrance, as well as in the pedimented wings at the outer left and right, each topped with urn-shaped finials. The north side elevation includes a later pitched, painted and boarded porch in the central bay, with a box-dormer spanning three bays above.

The east elevation has 12-pane timber sash and case windows, while the north and south additions feature modern glazing. The roof is covered with graded grey slate, and there are rendered wallhead stacks on the north and south sides, positioned between the original block and the wings, along with projecting copes and various circular cans.

The interior was not seen in 1996. The outbuilding has a central bay with a two-leaf timber door at ground level and a single window aligned above. The boundary wall along Whitehouse Road is made of random rubble sandstone and features round-arched coping.
