Description

Earlier 19th century. 4-storey, 2-bay tenement with public house (former shop) at ground floor, substantial 3-storey modern building with mansard attic to rear. Sandstone front, dressed ashlar to ground floor, droved ashlar above, sides rendered. Band course above ground floor; 1st and 2nd floor windows corniced; ashlar mullions.

NW (FRONT) ELEVATION: 2 broad depressed-arched openings at ground floor with modern glazing replacing radial fanlights and glazed doors. Pilastered tripartite windows in full-height recessed panels to all floors above. Single rectangular dormer with piended roof.

SW (BURGESS STREET) ELEVATION: blank with tall wallhead stack.

NE (WATER?S CLOSE) ELEVATION: as SW elevation.

Timber sash and case windows with plate glass glazing to front. Piended slate roof; 2 wallhead stacks (see above) linked to roof.

INTERIOR: not seen 1993.
