27, 29, 31 and 33 Causewayside, Edinburgh

27, 29, 31, and 33 Causewayside in Edinburgh is a late 18th-century tenement building that stands three stories tall with an attic and features five symmetrical bays. The ground floor accommodates shops, while the upper floors have been covered with 20th-century pebble dash. A cornice is present above the shopfronts.

The west elevation, which serves as the entrance, has a central doorway leading into the tenement, with a blank bay above it. To the outer right, there is a shop featuring a two-leaf panelled door and aprons beneath enlarged, small-pane windows. On the left side is a public house (25-27 Causewayside) with panelled pilasters between its openings. The outer left and right bays, as well as the central three-bay nepus gable, have regular fenestration, and there are piend roof dormers flanking the gable.

The upper floors are fitted with 12-pane timber sash and case windows. The roof is made of grey slate and includes a coped stack at the nepus gable, along with coped mutual stacks and moulded cans.
