Description

15-19 Causewayside is an earlier 19th-century, four-storey corner tenement building featuring six bays across the front and three bays along the side, with shops on the ground floor. The structure is made of squared and coursed stugged sandstone with ashlar dressings, including a base course and a uniform design for the shopfronts that have panelled aprons and a full entablature. The façade includes panels that divide the framed openings and an eaves course.

On the north elevation facing West Preston Street, there are three shops on the ground floor. The left shop has a window and a panelled two-leaf door, while the right shop features two windows and a door on the return. A tenement door with a fanlight is located to the right of centre. The upper floors have regular fenestration with three windows across each floor, and there is a shouldered wallhead stack at the centre, which is rendered and limed.

The west elevation facing Causewayside originally had two shops on the ground floor, but now there is one shop, with the former central door blocked and converted into a window. The outer bays have windows, and there is a door to the penultimate right. Above, there are three bays, with a blank bay to the left that rises to a shouldered wallhead stack, and fenestration is present in the centre and right bays.

The building predominantly features 12-pane timber sash and case windows, with some 4-pane windows on the west elevation. The roof is covered with grey slate.
