Description
63, 65, and 67 Causewayside in Edinburgh are earlier 19th-century, four-storey classical tenements that form an 18-bay terrace with shops on the ground floor. The buildings are constructed from stugged cream sandstone with ashlar dressings. Features include a base course, uniform shopfronts, a band course, cill courses, architraves, and some cast-iron window guards on the upper floors, along with a cornice and blocking course.
The west elevation has central doorways for each tenement, with shops on either side. The doors are panelled and topped with plate glass fanlights, while the upper floors have regular fenestration. The windows are predominantly plate glass, with timber sash and case designs; some are 12-pane, and others are pivoted. The roof is covered with grey slate and features coped ridge stacks and moulded cans.
