East Lodge And Gates, Fettes College, East Fettes Avenue, Edinburgh

West Lodge and Gates at Fettes College in Edinburgh were designed by David Bryce in 1874. The gates feature a late Gothic style with two piers that have shafted angles, interlaced arches at the top, and console crowns, along with elaborate cast-iron gates. The railings have simple spikes with floriated finials placed at intervals.

The lodge, built around 1870, is a single-storey structure with an asymmetrical design. It includes simple stop-chamfered piers and railings, an open porch, and a bay window that projects out to a square shape with a gabled roof. The lodge has shafted chimneys and a slated roof with bargeboarded gables.

Another lodge, also designed by David Bryce around 1870, is similar to the first but features a deep parallel-walled approach.

A two-storey and attic structure, designed by Bryce in 1873, is asymmetrical with crow-stepped and bargeboarded gables. The taller section has a bay that is corbelled to a square shape at the attic on the south front, while the east front features a Tudor doorpiece. There is a later, lower western extension that follows the same style.

Another design by Bryce from 1870 is similar to the previous lodge but is reversed, featuring a lower four-window wing on the east side with shafted chimneys and a later eastern addition.
