Description
The railings and gate, boundary wall, and Covenanters' Memorial located in the Grassmarket area of Edinburgh were constructed in 1937 and again in 1953-1954. The memorial features a roughly-hewn raised cylinder with an inset granite circle and a Saltire cross, which is surrounded by a bronze circular inscription from 1937. The boundary wall is made of squared and snecked hammered sandstone and is topped with coped piers. Additionally, there are cast-iron railings and gates that incorporate Saltire crosses and thistles, designed by the City Engineer in 1953-1954.
