55, 57, 59, and 61 Ferry Road is an early 19th-century symmetrical terrace of flats, featuring two storeys, a basement, and an attic, with a total of nine bays. The building is constructed from cream droved ashlar sandstone with polished dressings, and has a rusticated ground floor with a base course and a band course above. There is a cill course at the first floor, along with a cornice and a blocking course. The secondary elevations are made of coursed dressed rubble. The windows are regularly spaced, with steps leading up to panelled doors that have rectangular fanlights above in the third, fifth, and seventh bays, while there are blind windows located above these doors. The two basement flats have doors situated below the outer steps, accompanied by flanking windows.

The gable ends display irregular fenestration, and the rear elevation consists of four bays with piend-roofed tripartite dormers in the central bays. The windows feature timber sash and case glazing, with 12-pane windows at the front and 4-pane and plate glass windows at the rear. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are coped ashlar stacks and ashlar coped skews.

The front elevation is flanked by depressed-arch ashlar carriageways that have a cornice and blocking course, with coped rubble side walls. Low coped ashlar walls at the front support railings, and there is a terminal gatepier to the left topped with a pyramidal cap.
