Description
16 High Street is an early 18th century, six-storey and attic, four-bay tenement block featuring a central pedimented wallhead gable and a shop on the ground floor. The building is constructed from roughly squared and coursed sandstone rubble, with ashlar dressings. There is an ornamental timber doorpiece surrounding a pend on the left side, which leads to Tweedale Court. The later shop frontage has a recessed lobby and is flanked by plate glass windows. A projecting turnpike stair is located at the rear center of the building.
The windows are 12-pane timber sash and case style. The roof is covered with Scottish slate, and there are broad harled stacks with clay cans. The building also features cast-iron rainwater goods.
