Description
This is a substantial fragment of wall located on the west side of Tweeddale Court in Edinburgh, running from north to south. The date and purpose of the wall are uncertain, but it is comparatively early and may be a remnant of the town wall from around 1450. The wall is built from rubble and features a shallow cavetto-moulded coping. The southern end of the wall has been truncated and includes 18th century dressings. Adjoining the eastern side is an 18th century lean-to known as the 'Sedan Chair House' (refer to a separate listing). Additionally, a further stretch of wall with similar construction and massing continues to the south of Tweeddale House, following the same alignment.
