Description

W Hamilton Beattie, 1879; remodelled internally and extended to rear by Robert Hurd and Partners, 1978. 4-storey and double attic, broad 3-bay French Renaissance office. Cream sandstone ashlar. Projecting at ground; with panelled pilasters and consoled cornice; 3-bay shopfront to right with segmental-pedimented door with decorative console brackets and 2-leaf bronze doors in elaborately moulded architraves; single bay incorporating entrance to left; plate glass windows. Upper floors with canted pilastered window at centre; outer bays slightly advanced and flanked by paired pilasters. Entablature to each floor; pediment to centre bay. 1st attic storey with paired arched windows framed by pilasters and aedicules flanking centre bay; centre section repeats at 2nd storey.

Cast-iron mullions and transoms at 1st floor. 4-pane timber sash and case above, with iron mullions. Grey slates; ashlar coped skews, stone stacks.
