Description
Circa 1790. 3-storey basement and attic, 9-bay classical former tenement. Broached cream sandstone ashlar with polished dressings. V-jointed rusticated at ground; cill course at 1st floor; eaves cornice. Ground and 1st floors step up slightly to right of centre bay; also recessed downpipe at this junction. Centre bay with former common stair door blocked as window and steps removed. Tripartite arched doorpiece with radiating metal fanlight to 3rd bay from right. Pilastered corniced tripartite doorpiece with fluted frieze and panelled door to 4th bay from left. Right block with small iron balconies to 2nd floor; pair of piend-roofed canted dormers. Left block with pair of piend-roofed dormers.
Coursed rubble rear elevation with Venetian windows at ground; closet towers.
Timber sash and case 12-pane windows. Ashlar coped skews; coped stone stacks; grey slates.
INTERIOR: not seen 1995.
RAILINGS AND LAMP STANDARDS: cast-iron spearhead railings and wrought-iron lamp standards to No 2.
