1 North Charlotte Street, Edinburgh

1 North Charlotte Street in Edinburgh is a former house built around 1790. This three-storey building with a basement and attic features a classical design and has three bays. It is constructed from broached cream sandstone ashlar with polished dressings. The ground floor showcases V-jointed rustication, while the entrance is highlighted by a tripartite pilastered doorpiece that includes a fluted frieze and a rectangular radiating fanlight. There is a cill course on the first floor and an eaves cornice above.

The gable end has four bays and is made of ashlar, featuring blind windows and arched stair windows on the inner right bay, along with two attic windows. The rear elevation is made of coursed rubble and includes a projecting bow to the south, with some additions at the first floor.

The building has timber sash and case windows with 12 panes. It is topped with ashlar coped skews, stone stacks, and grey slates.

The interior was not seen in 1995. The property also includes cast-iron spearhead railings and rubble boundary walls at the rear.
