5, 7, 9 South Charlotte Street, Edinburgh

5, 7, and 9 South Charlotte Street is a former classical tenement building dating from around 1790. It is a three-storey structure with a basement and attic, featuring eight bays. The exterior is made of droved cream sandstone ashlar with polished dressings, although the northern four bays and the ground floor to the south have been cleaned, resulting in some loss of droving. The ground floor showcases V-jointed rustication and an eaves cornice.

The entrance includes an arched doorpiece with a fanlight to the left, while there is a common stair door located in the centre left bay. A plain door with a rectangular plate glass fanlight is found in the third bay from the right. The roof features a piend-roofed tripartite dormer on the far left and a pair of bipartite dormers to the right. The windows are timber sash and case, consisting of 12-pane and plate glass, with fixed plate glass windows at the ground level to the left that have carved timber transoms. The building has rendered stacks, ashlar coped skews, and is covered with grey slates.

The interior was not seen in 1995. The property is also accompanied by cast-iron spearhead railings.
