Description
This is a standard police call box located on West Port in Edinburgh, designed in the late 1930s by the City Architects' Department, specifically by Ebenezer J MacRae, the City Architect. The box is a classical rectangular structure made of cast iron, measuring 6 feet by 4 feet in plan. It features two long elevations with pilasters, one of which has a door that displays the city arms. The short elevations are single bay and topped with open pediments that feature ribboned wreath decorations. The windows of the box have been blocked.
