Description
This is a standard Edinburgh police call box designed by the City Architects Department, likely in the late 1930s. It is located on the north side of Market Street, at the corner of Waverley Bridge. The box is a classical rectangular structure made of cast iron, measuring 6 feet by 4 feet. It features two-bay Doric pilastered long elevations, with one side having a door that displays the City arms. The short elevations have a single bay and are topped with open pediments that include ribboned wreath decoration. All elevations are adorned with saltire patterned glazing.
