Description
This is a standard Edinburgh police call box designed by the City Architects Department, specifically by E J MacRae, in the late 1930s. The box has a rectangular plan measuring 6 feet by 4 feet and is made of cast iron with a gabled roof. It is located at the northeast entrance to Rutland Square. The principal elevations are pilastered, with the entrance elevation to the northeast featuring a corniced door on the right that bears the city arms, and two small corniced doors to the left. The short elevations are each topped with open pediments that include ribboned wreath decorations. All elevations are fitted with Saltaire patterned glazing.
