50, 52 George Street, Edinburgh

50 and 52 George Street in Edinburgh is a classical tenement building dating from around 1775, with later alterations made at the ground level. It stands three stories tall with an attic and features five bays, arranged in a 4-1 pattern. The exterior is constructed from droved cream sandstone ashlar with polished dressings. The left side has channelled quoins, while the right side has rusticated quoins, and there is an eaves cornice. The ground level features a dentilled cornice, with a central panelled door leading to the upper floors, topped by a rectangular plate glass fanlight. This door is flanked by later 19th-century canted shopfronts, which have undergone significant alterations. To the left, there are two earlier 19th-century canted dormers with piend roofs.

The western elevation is a rubble return with a rebuilt rendered nepus gable and an applied stack. The rear elevation is also rubble, featuring a projecting gable and a Venetian window in the western bay, along with an apex stack.

The building has timber 12-pane sash and case windows, and the roof is piended to the west, covered with grey slates. The interior was not seen in 1995.
