Description
40 and 42 George Street in Edinburgh is a three-storey building with a basement and attic, designed in 1983 by Cunningham Glass Partnership. It features a three-bay classical facade that is a pastiche of traditional styles, constructed from droved cream sandstone ashlar with polished dressings. The right bay includes steps leading to a doorpiece that has a cornice and architrave, topped with a radiating fanlight. There is a cill course at the first floor, an eaves cornice, and a pair of broad canted piend-roofed dormers.
The windows are timber sash and case with 12 panes. The building has rendered stacks, ashlar coped skews, and is covered with grey slates.
Inside, the building has a modern office interior. The railings are modern replacement cast-iron.
