49 Woodhall Road, Edinburgh

49 Woodhall Road is a semi-detached villa designed by Sir Robert Lorimer in 1907 and built by Robert R Grieve in 1909. This single-storey and attic building features a rectangular plan with four bays and a central M-gable at the north. It has recessed porches under a swept roof at the outer bays and jerkin-headed gables on the side elevations, with a scullery outshot at the center of the rear. The exterior is finished with white painted harl.

The villa has timber boarded doors located in the recessed porches on the north side, with flanking casements in the outer bays. The ground floor features quadripartite windows at the center of the gables, while above, there are segmental-arched tripartite windows and blind slits at the gable apices. Each house has paired flat-roofed dormers on the south side (rear). The central scullery outshot has timber boarded doors with small canopies and a piend roof.

The windows are fitted with 6-pane glazing in timber casements. The roof is covered with graded grey slate and features a large central ridge stack along with smaller end stacks, all rendered with ashlar copes and red clay cans.

Additionally, there is a low coped rubble boundary wall to the north.
