Hawes Garage, Edinburgh Road, South Queensferry

Hawes Garage, located on Edinburgh Road in South Queensferry, is an early 18th century building that has undergone later alterations. It consists of a single storey and loft range with single storey wings, forming a U shape. Originally built as stables for Hawes Inn, it now serves as a garage, gallery, and craft shop. The exterior features coursed rubble with large droved dressings.

The main range has a north (principal) elevation with three widely spaced bays. This includes a central door with a fanlight, a large shop window to the right, and a small window to the left, along with three loft windows above. The gable ends are blind.

On the south elevation, there are modern garage extensions. The principal elevations of the wings, which face into the courtyard, have three large shop windows, with a central window that incorporates a doorway. The north elevation features pediment gables, band cornices, and blind oculi in the tympana.

The building has modern glazing, a pantile roof with a slate easing course, straight skews, and a short rubble stack at the east gablehead. The interior is used as a garage workshop.
