Description

The lighthouse on Newhalls Road at Hawes Pier was designed by John Rennie around 1812, with the lantern added in the late 19th century. It features a circular base and a hexagonal tower topped with a lantern. The base includes a band course at the cill, blind arches with keystones, and a cable course at the springing of the arches. The structure is built with rusticated ashlar and smooth ashlar dressings.

On the north face, there is a round arched doorway with short steps leading up from both the east and west sides, and it features a sculptured carved head keystone. The south face also has a sculptured carved head keystone.
