Description
9B Albany Street is an earlier 19th century, two-storey classical terraced house with an attic and basement. It features a polished ashlar sandstone façade with a base course, band courses between the basement and principal floor, and between the principal and first floor. The building has projecting cills at the principal and first floors, as well as a cornice and blocking course. There are ashlar steps leading to the entrance, which oversails the basement.
On the north (principal) elevation, there is a four-panel timber door with a plate glass semicircular fanlight located in the bay to the right at the principal floor. The remaining bays on this floor and the floors above have regular fenestration, along with the basement, which has a flagged area.
The west elevation adjoins another terrace, which is listed separately (5-7B Albany Street), and the east elevation also adjoins a terrace listed separately (11-19 Albany Street).
The windows are 12-pane timber sash and case. The roof is covered with grey slate and features a slate-hung piended box dormer on the right and a slate-hung tripartite rectangular piended dormer on the left. The building has cast-iron rainwater goods, a rendered ridge stack that is coped with circular cans, and coped skews.
The interior was not seen in 1998. The property is also adorned with ashlar copes topped by cast-iron railings that have spear-headed and urn finials.
