Description
25-25B Albany Street is an earlier 19th-century, two-storey, attic and basement, three-bay terraced classical house. It is constructed of polished ashlar sandstone, with broached ashlar sandstone at the basement. The building features a base course, a band course between the basement and the principal floor, and a cill course at both the principal and first floors. There is a mutuled cornice and blocking course at the first floor, along with ashlar steps and an entrance platform that oversails the basement.
On the north (principal) elevation, there is a pilastered and corniced doorpiece in the left bay at the principal floor, which includes a nine-panel timber door and a plate glass rectangular fanlight. The remaining bays at the principal floor have architraved and corniced windows, while the first floor features architraved windows. The basement has regular fenestration and a flagged area.
The west elevation adjoins another terrace, which is listed separately (21-23A Albany Street), as does the east elevation (27-33 Albany Street). The windows are plate glass timber sash and case. The roof is covered with grey slate and features a polygonally piended dormer on the right. The building has cast-iron rainwater goods, a rendered ridge stack that is coped and has circular cans, and coped skews.
The interior was not seen in 1998. The railings consist of ashlar copes topped with cast-iron railings featuring spear-headed and urn finials.
