Description
G Lang and Co is a building located at 45 Lanark Road in Edinburgh, dating from around 1783 to 1786, with renovations completed in 1826. It has a rectangular plan and is constructed of coursed rubble. The building features two arched and keyblocked windows on the side, with one window and one door on each gable. At the north end, there is a square corbelled bellcote that has arched and keyblocked openings, topped with an ogee cap and a weathercock. The roof is slated.
The building also includes a castellated sandstone ashlar and rendered archway, added in 1899, which faces Lanark Road. This archway has a small round pedestrian archway to the left (east) and a larger segmental vehicular archway to the right (west), both featuring chamfered voussoirs. The pitched roof is covered with red clay tiles and has a ridge. Additionally, there are cast-iron gates adorned with fleur-de-lys finials.
