Description

The Victoria Dock and Lock Gates at Leith Docks in Edinburgh were designed by James M Rendel between 1847 and 1851. This rectangular dock features an eastern end that is angled to fit the outer harbour. The quays are faced with ashlar stone and include a timber piled walkway on the southern side. To the north, there is a lock with a rusticated facing and decayed gates. Shaped corners provide stairs leading down to the water, and there are bull-nosed capstans located at the water's edge.
