Description
Ellenvale and Sycamore Cottages, located at 7 and 9 Kirkgate in Currie, were originally designed by William Burn between 1828 and 1829. The original southwest section is a single-storey building featuring two chamfered semi-elliptical arched windows that are raised in the roof, complemented by gablets. The east elevation has a porch at the front, crowstepped gables, and diagonally shafted chimneys. An east section was added after 1850, designed in the same style but with a central porch that previously included a bellcote and without chamfers at the openings. The cottages are constructed with stugged coursers and have slated roofs.
