50-52 Craigmillar Park, Edinburgh

50-52 Craigmillar Park is a late 19th-century, two-storey and attic house featuring an asymmetrical design with baronial and classical detailing. The building is constructed from squared and snecked cream sandstone, accented with red sandstone ashlar dressings. It has a raised base course, deeply overhanging eaves, simply moulded bargeboards, and terracotta finials on the dormers and gableheads.

On the east elevation, the entrance is located to the right of the centre and features a panelled door with a plate glass fanlight above, sheltered by a bracketed slate canopy. To the outer left, there is a single window in the bay, and a pedimented single window is positioned between the bays on the first floor above. A modern box dormer is situated above this. The outer left ground floor has a tripartite advanced window, with a single window above on the first floor. The outer right features an advanced gabled bay with a full-height, three-light canted window, blank panels, and a central pediment above the ground floor lights, along with a single window in the gablehead above.

The south elevation, facing Wilton Road, includes a central lean-to porch with an east-facing doorway and a tripartite pedimented window that breaks the eaves. Above, there is a single round-arched window on the first floor. The outer right has a gabled bay with a carved panel at the ground level featuring a round arch motif and pediment, along with a three-light canted window that is corbelled out to the first floor above, and a single gablehead window. The outer left bay has single windows on both floors and a pitched roof dormer above.

The building predominantly features two-pane timber sash and case windows, with some four-pane and modern pivot windows. The roofs are covered with grey slate and clay ridge tiles, and there are shouldered ridge stacks, moulded cans, and cast-iron rainwater goods.

The interior was not seen in 1996. The property is enclosed by low coursed and coped rubble boundary walls along the street, with replacement railings.
